Brandi Fink, PhD an assistant professor at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine, develops a tablet-based alcohol consumption assessment for patients to fill out before being seen by their primary care physicians. Fink plans to incorporate the PALM assessment into provider EHRs so that patients can access it via their portals from the comfort of their homes. Ultimately, Fink hopes PALM will help PCPs better care for high-risk patients.

A new Athenahealth physician sentiment survey reveals interesting, hands-on details about AI utilization in physician practices:

  • 46% of surveyed physicians say they are growing more comfortable with AI.
  • The number of those who feel AI is unable to meet their expectations has dropped from 40% to 27%.
  • 68% have used AI more frequently in the last year to generate clinical documentation, with transcription capabilities and services reported as AI’s most valuable use case.
