From Palpatine: “Re: RemedyConnect offshoring failure. A few weeks ago, RemedyConnect parent company Office Practicum (or, rather, their VC/PE overlords) decided to offshore the people answering the phones for their after-hours call service. The word is that they gave the local staff 30 days notice. It has apparently backfired, badly. The attached letter was sent to their clients yesterday. I share this to point out what happens when PE is in charge. Gotta’ get that EBIDTA, and Trump isn’t tariff-ing call centers yet …” The letter indicates that the move back to US-based agents (a featured touted on the Office Practicum/RemedyConnect website) was due to customer feedback. The company says it is also in the process of upgrading its call center technology. Pamlico Capital became an investor in Connexin Software/Office Practicum in 2018.

US Rep. Pat Ryan (D-NY) releases the results of a community inquiry into the business practices of Optum-owned medical practices in New York’s Hudson Valley, many of which detail the decline in care quality, provider accessibility, billing methods, and staff morale. Over a third of the 1,800 patients interviewed say they’ve experienced poor customer service experiences that have negatively impacted their care. UnitedHealth Group-owned Optum has acquired two of the area’s largest providers in the last several years, consolidating the market and options for patients.
