A federal jury convicts the founder and CEO and clinical president of online prescription delivery company Done for their roles in a multi-year scheme to illegally distribute Adderall over the Internet, and conspire to commit healthcare fraud through the submission of false reimbursement claims. The pair’s dubious dealings involved:

  • Paying nurse practitioners up to $60,000 per month to refill prescriptions without any clinical interaction.
  • Enabling an “auto-refill” technology feature where, for years, patients could receive prescriptions without clinical interaction.
  • Offering expensive vehicles to employees who broke the law.
  • Moving operations to China to evade federal scrutiny.

Workforce and health IT will be the biggest areas of investment for medical groups in 2026, according to an MGMA poll of 213 medical group professionals. Health IT spend will include AI, new or upgraded EHR and practice management systems, and cloud migrations.

Family physicians report underwhelming EHR interoperability experiences, according to a survey of 8,122 physicians (nearly a quarter of which work in independent practices) conducted in 2024. Researchers note that while it “would be reasonable to expect greater reported availability of information given the substantial volume of exchange reported by prominent networks,” not a single group of physicians reported a high level of satisfaction with their EHR interoperability experience.
