Carlyle’s deal with Knack was first reported on last August at a rumored $500 million valuation. Terms of the final deal have not been disclosed.

A federal jury in Texas convicts Barbara Marino, MD of illegally distributing 1 million pills of opioids and other controlled substances from her cash-only Angels Clinica practice in a Houston strip mall. Patients were brought in by local drug dealers, who filled their prescriptions and then sold them on the street. She faces up to 100 hundred years in jail.

Outer Cape Health Services (MA) CEO Damian Archer says the community provider will provide up to half of its services virtually by the end of this year. Video visits currently account for 10% of its appointments across its three clinics, with nearly all behavioral health appointments taking place remotely. He expects the transition, which will cost nearly $1 million, to improve patient access, reduce waitlists, and help overcome staffing challenges.

Thomas Chittenden Health Center (VT) Physician Assistant Rick Dooley extols the benefits of using Heidi, an AI scribe solution provided to the independent primary care practice through the state’s now shuttered OneCare payment program. He expects the health center to gladly pick up the $100 monthly fee, noting that it’s less expensive than a transcription service.
