Providers in Oregon are still feeling the impact of the Change Healthcare outage on their revenue cycle, according to a recent Oregon NPR profile. Oregon Specialty Group, an independent practice with four locations, resorted to mailing and faxing bills to payers, sending one or two in the time it would have normally taken to digitally send 200. That sluggishness cut the practice’s revenue in half – a situation that wasn’t made any better by the initial offer of an $8,000 loan by Change Healthcare parent company UnitedHealth Group. OSP ultimately wound up with a $1.2 million loan after NPR contacted UnitedHealth for its story.
