STAT reports on the negative impact recent cuts at HHS are having on HRSA’s efforts to modernize the Uniform Data System, a data-reporting system that community health centers use to prove that they’re spending government money wisely, and that the government in turn uses to allocate resources to facilities most in need.

The UDS+ effort has been several years in the making, spearheaded by HRSA, ASTP/ONC, and a steering committee of providers and health IT vendors. The upgraded system, which was scheduled for its first test run next month, seems to have been effectively shelved as HRSA gets folded into the Administration for a Healthy America.
