1LifeHealthcare, parent company of One Medical, reports a Q1 loss of $39.3 million, offset by a 54% jump in Q1 revenue, no doubt attributable to its 31% increase in membership. The company, which went public in January, was accused several months later of offering COVID-19 vaccines to ineligible patients, including some with ties to company leadership in several states. The accusations, spurred on by an NPR report, prompted the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Crisis to launch an investigation in March into the primary care company’s vaccination practices, the results of which have not yet been released.

Automated medical transcription startup DeepScribe raises $5.2 million in a seed funding round. The company’s technology, developed by two of its co-founders while they were at UC Berkeley, also leverages speech recognition capabilities from IBM and Google.
Prescription savings and telemedicine company GoodRx acquires competitor RxSaver from Vericast for $50 million. The company, which went public last September, last week reported a 20% increase in Q1 revenue to $160.4 million.

The region is experiencing a shortage of PCPs. Over 65,000 patients report being without a designated physician.

In Delaware, Sussex County Department of Libraries converts its Bookmobile to a mobile COVID-19 vaccination clinic with help from local emergency services and Beebe Healthcare. The county’s library department is no stranger to combining healthcare with its services: It installed telehealth kiosks at several branches earlier this year.
